Hi! I’m Cooper. I’m an adorable chihuahua mix and you should be careful because I might steal your heart.
Don’t let my small size fool you, I love going for long walks and going for hikes! My favorite things include my mini tennis balls, salmon treats, and CHEESE. You know what else I love? Travelling!!! I love rolling around in hotel rooms and sniffing all the smells in new places. Unlike other dogs my size, I don’t mind the cold and I love running through the snow! Bonus—I look extra cute in my winter jacket.
I’m also super food motivated! I know all sorts of tricks and I love to learn new ones. I even have good recall! Unfortunately, I’m allergic to chicken and have a pretty sensitive digestive tract. My foster family feeds me fresh homemade food and I feel so much better when I eat this way.
I love to spend time with my human. I’m happy to come run errands with you (I’m very polite in stores) or I’m just as happy to stay at home. I get panic attacks in a crate, but don’t worry, I’m a good boy and can be left at home because I don’t destroy things.
I’m looking for a new home with an experienced dog owner as I am pretty anxious (but Prozac helps me a lot!). Because I love my human so much, I resource guard them and don’t like to share, so I’m only looking for a single person household. Despite lots of training, this isn’t something about me that is going to change.
I also have a few other things I am working on, please be patient with me! I can be afraid of strangers, particularly when they are in my space. I need a human who can help me work through this issue, but I’d prefer if we don’t have too many visitors. I can also be reactive on a leash because I never learned how to interact with dogs properly, but I’d love to work on this with you! This is a little embarrassing… but I also have trouble with brooms, mops, and vacuums and I will try to attack them whenever I see them.
If you have a dog already that is confident and patient, I think I would like that. Having an already established dog in the household that can help me feel more confident and learn the rules would help me feel more secure. I need a slow introduction though—sometimes I think other dogs are scary.
Cooper is ~5 years old, 12-13lbs, neutered, and utd on shots.
